It’s been rainy this week, with the rain usually coming in the morning, which didn’t happen much, if at all, during the summer. Yesterday, it pretty much rained all day, which has also been unusual. I suppose we got about an inch over the week.
But today is a beautiful fall day. It’s 65 on the porch at 3:00, and there’s a very nice wind. It’s the kind of day that always makes me glad to be alive. As my dad used to say, “I’ll take another 364 just like it.”
The fall migration is on, according to reports on Bird Cast. The guys in southern Indiana are reporting sightings, and Bird Cast says that 1.2 million birds passed through Monroe County a few nights ago. That’s about 40 miles south of Indianapolis, where Indiana University is located. I went to look at Fannin County, and it said 1.5 million birds passed through Fannin County last night!

If you scroll down past the charts, there’s a list of the birds they think are passing through.
I haven’t seen or heard any but the usual yard birds today, but I’m going to keep a watch out.
