Leaf Report

It was about 42 on the porch this morning, and the string of beautiful weather continues. It’s 36 at Mercier Orchards at 8:30. On calm nights, the cold air settles in the valleys, leading to lower temperatures there.

There’s a bit more color in the woods, most of it the yellows from the hickories. It’s hard to tell at this point if there’s going to be any more. It could be that we’ve actually reached the usual peak at the third week of October. I guess I’m betting that there will be a little more, but so far, there’s nothing spectacular. At this point, compared to other years, I’d rate it very below average in terms of color.

There are a few more leaves on the ground, but still not enough to worry about blowing them.
