The Battle Over The National Forests

Here’s an NPR story about what someone called “Wars in the Woods” – the struggle between the people who think that the national forests should essentially be national parks, and the people who think that the national forests should be managed for timber production. The local organization, Georgia ForestWatch is essentially on the one side, and the U.S. Forest Service on the other. The essential tactic of the environmental groups is to sue the Forest Service, a situation that the Forest Service finds extremely frustrating. This is a good rundown of both sides of the argument.
