There’s so much pollen in the air that you could mistake it for smoke and think the Forest Service was doing a controlled burn.
When I first came to Fannin County in 1987, you could smell the Red Oak pollen in the air – it smells just like urine – and actually taste it in your mouth. There’s been so much development since then that such is no longer the case. But there’s still plenty of pollen out there.
Some of the dogwoods are starting, with that greenish bloom they get. It can take them more than two weeks to be fully in bloom, but they are definitely coming.
The sarvis is still in bloom, and the crab apples are just starting to bloom.
