It started to spit a little grapple about noon, and at 1:30, it’s strong enough to start collecting some on the decks. There’s a hearty north wind, and the forecast low is 8.
I believe the roads are mostly clear, but it is hovering around the freeze, and I expect there will be some icy places due to the refreeze.
It’s a good idea to open up the doors of your vanity, especially if it sits on an outside wall. The upstairs vanity is the most likely place for the water lines to freeze. Then you’ve got water running down the stairs. Make sure there is nothing up against the supply line, if it is near an outside wall. It doesn’t need to freeze and burst.
It’s likely that there’s nothing serious happening, but as someone who has been here for thirty years, it tells me that the atmosphere is unstable, and anything can happen. It might not do anything, or it might get serious. Weather is very local in the mountains. Western North Carolina, a few miles to the northeast, gets a lot more precipitation, as does Dial. Suches is another story entirely.
What I’m trying to say is, keep an eye on the weather. Enjoy winter, but be safe.
