Leaf Color Continues

It has been very windy yesterday and today, and remarkably, there is still some good color in the woods, mostly from the oaks. There’s a lot of red, orange, and bronze color, especially when the sun is setting and shining through the leaves.

Very unusually, we saw two male katydids on the screen yesterday. I can’t recall seeing them this late. The sunset noises have mostly been the tree frogs, but there may still be a little katydid music in the air. It’s hard to tell, as it can be difficult to pick them out of the mix.
