We’ve had unseasonably cold weather for about two weeks now, and it looks to continue for at least another week. It was about 20 on the porch this morning, and the forecast high is 34.
The National Weather Service is calling for snow from about 1:00 PM Friday to 1:00 AM Friday night. They have not forecast the possible accumulation yet, but the chance of precipitation is 90%.
The Weather Channel is calling for 3-5 inches of snow Friday and 1-3 inches of snow Friday night. They estimate the chance of snow at 90%.
There could be even more snow at higher elevations.
Needless to say, if this happens, there will be travel difficulties, and with the low temperatures, the snow is likely to stay on the ground for a few days.
If you can, get some snow melt handy. There’s nothing slicker than a wooden deck with ice or snow on it. Chances are the power will go off in many locations. And it may stay off for two or three days. It’s good to have some extra water and food. Those who indulge in adult beverages are well advised to stock up.
