I had to go to Jasper on Monday, and I saw a road killed armadillo just over the Gilmer county line. It’s the first I’ve seen locally.
I wasn’t shocked, because I saw a road kill south of Atlanta in Jonesboro about ten years ago, and about five years ago, I saw one on I-40, on that stretch between Nashville and Knoxville where all the state parks are located.
We had about an inch of rain last night, and it’s raining again. It’s been dry, although we had about an eighth inch a day or so ago. I can’t report on the yearly total, because UGA’s site seems to be down, but I’ll bet we’re pushing 50 inches so far this year.
