We’ve seen the first rhododendron in bloom. It’s a little early, as most of them probably won’t be in bloom for another week or two. A great place to see them is usually the upper Noontootla Creek, on the way to Three Forks.
We also heard the katydids for the first time, about 7:30 PM. It was a little odd, as they didn’t sing but briefly. I expected them to resume after dark, but they didn’t, at least until I went to bed about 10:00.
There were also quite a few lightening bugs in the yard, more than usual for this time of year. Our local bat was in evidence, as the air was dense with insects enjoying the warm weather.
