The Tree Frogs Are Going Crazy

It’s been about 60 today, with no rain. I don’t hear the pond peepers anymore, but the tree frogs are going crazy. I haven’t heard this yet, but I bet I will, just around sunset – the males trilling, in search of a mate. If you’re curious, you can get The Frogs and Toads of North America, by Lang Elliott, Carl Gerhardt, and Carlos Davidson, complete with CD. As I’ve said before, it’s a lot easier to tell an American Toad from a Fowler’s by the call. Some beautiful purple colors in the sky right now.
