Technical Difficulties With Website, Brief Note On Weather, Speaker Ralston To Step Down

I’ve had some technical difficulties with the site, which I think I have resolved. I apologize to my regular readers for the time it took to do it.

The weather for the foreseeable future is very cold and fair. Today started at 26 and the forecast high is 40. The lows are forecast to be lower, but some of the highs are forecast to be in the 50s as the week goes on. There is also a very brisk wind blowing today.

The newspaper of record says that David Ralston is going to step aside as Speaker of the House of Representatives. This is a big deal, and I’ll try to post more as details are available. As many of you know, when Tom Murphy, the long time Speaker – 1973 t0 2002 – was defeated, the pundits predicted that there would never be another rural speaker. Well, there was: David Ralston from Fannin County, Georgia. The Speaker of the House is the most powerful man in Georgia – including the Governor – and David Ralston has done many good things for Fannin County during his tenure as Speaker, including designating Fannin County the “Trout Capital of Georgia” and establishing a branch of North Georgia University in Blue Ridge.
