We’ve been in a thunderstorm pattern for the last week or so. We’ve gotten about three inches of rain, and we are in one of the drier areas of the county. I’m sure other areas have received much more. Some of the storms have been pretty severe. I was caught on the road in the one on Monday, and it was just about impossible to see where you were going.
The “4th of July” festivities are taking place in Blue Ridge on Saturday the 30th. The parade begins in the old downtown at 10:00 AM, and the fireworks will be at the marina in the evening. The best place to watch them is probably Morganton Point, but go a little early, and bring a lawn chair. As far as I can tell, the only celebration on the 4th is at Epworth. That’s always on the 4th. Also, the celebration in Franklin, NC is on the 4th, but that is a bit of a haul from here, at least an hour and a half.
