Snow Report, Interesting Summary of the January 6-7 Snow Event

We had a dusting of grapple and a little snow at our place, late yesterday afternoon and evening. The decks are icy, and there’s some snow on the leaves, but the driveway is mostly clear. Other areas of the country might have gotten more, but I doubt there will be widespread travel difficulties. It’s supposed to warm to 44 today, with mostly sunny skies, but they are calling for a low of 31, so if there’s anything left by then, it may refreeze. There’s a nice snow cap on Hemptop, the Big Frog, and Franklin Mountain over in North Carolina.

Speaking of snow, there’s a very interesting summary of the weather event we had from January 6-7 on the NOAA weather service site. It shows snowfall densities across Georgia, satellite imagery, and some very nice photographs at the end.
