Signs Of Spring: The Tree Frogs

Saturday evening was mild, and the tree frogs were just going crazy. They easily drowned out the peepers down around the pond in the valley, and in fact, I could hear them from inside the house. If you’re curious about them, The Frogs and Toads of North America byLang Elliott, Carl Gerhardt, and Carlos Davidson (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2009) is a good resource. It includes a CD with recordings of their calls. It’s been a few years since I worked with it, but it did enable me to distinguish some of the calls around the cabin at dusk.
