We had a little rain overnight, and some more of the leaves are down. I suppose I’ll blow leaves for the first time this weekend. The rest of the days this week have been simply beautiful. It has been one of those fall seasons where there really wasn’t much transition. One day it was in the middle 80s, and the next next day, the lower 60s. I think this weekend will be the best for leaf color, although it is different in different parts of the county. But overall, I expect this weekend will be the peak, with some color remaining the weekend after. But … you have to take that with a grain of salt, because it is hard to predict.
The Rivers Alive cleanup is this Saturday.
Roxie Watson is performing at the Blue Ridge Community Theater Friday evening.
The Harvest Festival is on for the next two weekends at the Farmer’s Market on East 1st Street, near the drive in theater. This year, it’s called the Fall Fest Arts and Crafts Sale. If it is like previous years, it will feature homemade preserves and relishes, crafts, and baked goods. This is the first year that the Blue Ridge Homemakers are not running the festival, so there may be some small changes. But I expect it will still be very worthwhile.
