Mountain Laurel Blooms

Here at home, the mountain laurel – that’s rhododendron to the biologists – is starting to bloom on the south side of the mountain, and there’s also some laurel starting to come. In my experience, it’s a bit rare to have them come together, but it hasn’t been a typical year. The sarvis even fruited this year. Saturday is the native plant sale and the Union County Ramp Festival. See the previous column for details.
