Our rainfall total for October was 6.79 as of yesterday at Merciers weather station. That puts us at 59.61 total for the year, in sight of the annual average, which I think is still at about 70 inches. It’s a relief, because things were getting awfully dry, and I was beginning to have uncomfortable memories of the Cohutta Wilderness fire several years ago. The drought was good for getting some deferred deck work done, but bad for the dogwoods and other woodland creatures.
