Progress Of Spring

Some of the dogwoods are just starting, with that greenish bloom that takes a while to turn white. The redbuds are starting to fade in color, but are still hanging on. The old sarvis is fading, too. There are finally some other sarvis trees in bloom in the neighborhood. One of our young ones is starting to show a little white at the tips.

I’ve seen a few fern fiddleheads poking up from the ground. Unfortunately, we do not seem to have the edible ostrich ferns here. It’s too bad, because they’re delicious.

We’ve seen the first Red Admiral displaying mating behavior.

Many of the trees are beginning to leaf out, including our crab apples.

It looks like a constant drizzle today, so things may green up more before the end of the week.
