Best wishes for a happy and prosperous new year to all my readers.
Christmas was rather warm, as it was last year, but it bounced back cold quickly, and we’ve had a few days of rainy weather. There’s a chance of snow in the forecast later in the week, which will be the first real snow we’ve had, if it comes. We had a very brief episode of small grapple or pebbly sleet one day last week, but it didn’t last for long.
The next thing I’m looking forward to in town is the Band Kelley concert on January 21st, followed by a gospel show on the 22nd. Here’s the announcement:
Live Music is Better Series at the Blue Ridge Community Theater, 2591 E. First Street (Directly across from The Swan Drive-In Sign). Saturday, January 21st, 7:30 pm The Band Kelley is a multi-award winning family bluegrass band of four siblings. They are winners of the 2015 Jeff and Sheri Easter Talent Competition, four time winners of the Georgia-South Carolina State Talent Competition, 2nd place Georgia State Fiddle Champion, and placed 3rd in the Atkins & Loudermilk Band Competition. They have been honored to share the stage with some of today’s top performers including Mountain Faith, Flat Lonesome and Carolina Blue. This family blends tight harmony with acoustic instrumentation, playing strains of bluegrass, traditional country, and Gospel that appeal to a variety of audiences. Saturday January 21, 2017 is Bluegrass and Sunday January 22, 2017 is an afternoon of faith based music. Purchase tickets online or call the Box Office 706-632-9223.
