Light Up Blue Ridge, Scenic Railway Sold

The weather is  nice today, but it rained yesterday as hard as it can rain. I was on my way back downtown around 4:00 PM, and I was barely able to see the road. If you have problems with water damage, it might be a good idea to check sometime soon.

Light Up Blue Ridge is November 28. Here’s the official announcement: “Beginning at 10:30 at the Downtown City Park, there will be music on the Main Stage, The Parade line up begins in front of the Baptist Church at 11:00 am, Santa arrives on the train at 11:30 am and the parade starts at 12:00 ! Through the afternoon and evening there will be new music on the Main Stage for your enjoyment until the lighting of the tree around 7:00 pm. You won’t want to miss the live reindeer pulling Mr. and Mrs. Claus!”

The News Observer, one of our so-called newspapers, reports that Wilds Pierce has sold the Scenic Railway, along with his Georgia Northeastern Railway, a freight line. The new owner, SteelRiver, has pledged to continue to operate and improve the railway. The railway currently carries over 60,000 people yearly.

In other business news, June Walker Chevy has been sold to Bill Holt, and will operate as Bill Holt Chevy.
