It’s been very windy, and it continues to be incredibly dry. So please don’t burn anything outdoors. We’re under a total burn ban, both in the county and in the national forest.
As of yesterday, the fire had burned completely across the Cohutta Wilderness, from the Jones Community to a mile east of the Rice Camp Trail trailhead, on the western edge of the wilderness area. The Jones Community and those cabins across the Jacks on the Conasauga Creek were apparently saved, but only by the hardest. I gather that they’re pretty much going to let it burn the whole thing. That will show those awful environmentalists what happens when they won’t let us manage the forest. (Insert smiley face.)
