Late Leaf Report, Local Election Results

There’s still some color in the woods at this late date. especially at sunset, when the sun is shining diagonally though the woods.

The Fannin County election featured something unusual, Democrats running for all three open spots – one for County Commissioner, two for School Board. This has never before happened in Fannin County. None of the Democrats won, showing that they have a lot of work to do before the next election. And probably that the locals are content to have a school system run by the same old men who have run it for years, so long as they only hire local teachers and superintendents. And probably that the second home owners and retirees are willing to sit back and let the good old boy system rock, taxing them without any effective representation – or any at all. I don’t understand it, myself. If this is where you want to spend the rest of your life, maybe you should vote here. You know, try to make sure this is going to be the kind of place you still want to spend the rest of your life.
