Here Come the Dogwoods

Unless we have heavy rain or high wind, this weekend should be the peak of the dogwoods. The redbuds are almost gone, the crabapples are in bloom, and I’ve even seen an early flame azalea or two in bloom. We have a few lady slippers, and we’ve seen some of the other early wildflowers like Dutchman’s Breeches. We’ve also seen a few birds that we don’t usually see, including the American Redstart and a beautiful orange phase Scarlet Tanager.
