Full Labor Day Barbecue Schedule

As is traditional in September, the weather has started to dry out a little, although we’ve had some humid days. It’s beginning to look and feel a bit like fall, with the dogwoods and some of the other trees starting to turn. Judging from the evening bird sounds, there’s some migration beginning.

Just a reminder that the Labor Day Barbecue is Monday in the downtown park, starting at 11:30. They will serve food until it runs out or until 6:00. Take out is available at the far end of the park (furthest from the depot, or the south end). You would drive in from the south on East Main to reach the take out operation. But the real fun is in the park, because this is one event that brings everyone out, from the old boys to the newcomers. Plates with the fixings, dessert, and apple are: Ribs, $12, Chicken, $10, Pork Sandwich, $9.

There will be bluegrass and gospel from local bands.

It’s actually a three day event in all.

Saturday, is the “Pic-Nic-Nac” in the park. Local non-profits will have booths, and there breakfast and lunch concessions. If you are new to the area, this might be a good event to visit to learn about our various community organizations and their activities.

Sunday is Community Worship in the park, followed by an ice cream social. The worship service begins at 6:00.
