It was just a tick below 60 on the porch at 6:00 AM, and we had our first morning coffee on the porch of the winter. Even though it’s forecast to bounce right back cold, it was a welcome break from what’s been a rather cold winter by recent standards. We have had about 2.2 inches of rain yesterday and last night, so I expect that the fields will begin to green up, as the season starts to think about turning. In the past thirty years, I’ve seen the first day of spring on February 1st, with the Mourning Cloaks flying around, but only a few times. It’s more likely sometime in early March, but today was a nice reminder that it is coming.
