December 7 Last Day to Register to Vote in Senate Runoff, You May Need To Request Another Absentee Ballot, Also Runoff For Public Service Commission

The last day to register to vote in the Senate runoff in Georgia is December 7. Early (in person) voting begins December 14 and goes for three weeks. Hours are 9:00 – 5:00 Monday through Friday. Unlike the general election, there will be no Saturday voting. Election day is Tuesday, January 5. I’m told that if, when you requested an absentee ballot, you checked the box requesting that you automatically receive an absentee ballot, you will receive one. (This is only for people over 65, disabled, and/or veterans.) Otherwise, you must request one for the special election. You will not receive one simply because you voted in the general election.

You can request an absentee ballot online at http://BallotRequest.sos.ga.gov.

To register to vote, call the election office to verify your registration and precinct at 706.632.7740. You can also do it online at http://www.mvp.sos.ga.gov.

You can then register to vote at the same online site http://www.mvp.sos.ga.gov.

There is also a runoff for Public Service Commission. The long-time incumbent Lauren Bubba McDonald is facing Daniel Blackman. You may not think this is important, but it is to people concerned about the environment. Blackman is the green candidate, as indicated by his Georgia Sierra Club endorsement.
