Burn Ban In Effect Now, Update On Downtown Fire

We just received a message from Fannin County Emergency Management saying that Larry Thomas, the Fire Chief, has declared a ban on all outdoor burning. We have had a trace of rain, but the leaves are still pretty dry – and very thick on the ground – and the winds have been gusty this morning.

It’s OK to have a fire in your inside fireplace with a burn ban in effect. But outside burning, as in the fire pit, is not. Outside fireplaces are included in the ban.

The fire at Danielle’s Cafe seems to have resulted in the total loss of all the businesses in that complex, including Blue Ridge Bird Seed.
