Builder’s Showcase and Buckner Brothers Band

We’ve been having some beautiful fall weather. This past week, some of the leaves have turned. The dogwoods are kind of a rusty bronze this year, and some of the hickory trees are beginning to show yellow. I haven’t seen any sourwoods turn yet. It’s always a guessing game, but third or fourth week in October would be my guess for the peak this year. We’re beginning to see some of the fall migrants come through, including various waterfowl working the old quarry on Cutcane Road.

We’re into the fall festival season. See the column below for details.

Next weekend, October 11 & 12, the Buckner Brothers Band is playing the Whistestop in downtown Blue Ridge. They are the best band I’ve heard in some time (more details below). They play primarily blues and classic rock, but they have a very wide range.

Fall Arts in the Park is October 12 & 13 in the downtown Blue Ridge park.

The Builder’s Showcase is this Saturday, October 5, in the downtown park. There will be booths and exhibits from many local builders and other people who provide products and services to the local community.
