Blues Festival September 12

I’ll try to mention this again, but we’re coming up on one of our best events, the Blues & Barbecue Festival. It’s scheduled for September 12 from noon until 9:00 PM. The No Komment band leads off, followed by the Tullie Bray Band, Mudbone Turner/Sugarlips Wilson, and the Crossroads Band. The headliner is Dwayne Dopsie, “King of the Accordian.”

There is also a “blues crawl” the night before from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM in several of the downtown restaurants and pubs.

Also, the day before, the Buckner Brothers are playing the train, followed by a free street dance in the depot area. It’s no secret that I like this band, and I think they’re worth a listen. In fact, some years, they’re the best band at the festival. Here’s the info for the blues train and street dance following: “Friday, September 11th, 5:30 pm. $60 per Person $100 per Couple Rock on Down the Line” (Food, Fun & Live Music) Come join us for an evening of entertainment with the Buckner Brothers Band, great food and adult beverages. Proceeds support Rotary programs and help provide free books each month to area children. – Rolling Beer & Wine Party (6pm – 7pm) Complementary beer, wine & blues on the train – Dinner & Street Dance (7pm-11pm) Drinks, dinner and dancing to the Buckner Brothers Band. Tickets: www.brscenic.com.”
