The City of Blue Ridge voted yesterday, and the results are a stunning repudiation of divisive, personal agenda driven, “screw the outsiders” local politics. Donna Whitener won re-election as Mayor, and Rhonda Thomas as Post 2 commissioner. Kevin Gaddis won Post 3, defeating Angie Arp. Robbie Cornelius won Post 4 and Nathan Fitts Post 5. The only other incumbent re-elected was Harold Herndon, Post 2. This is likely because Jane Whaley was disqualified, due to the efforts of the same old voting block and the city attorney, who reportedly admitted that he has been representing one of the council members as well as the city, an apparent – shall we say – conflict of interest.
