There’s a new deli/cafe in town, the Alpine Deli & Cafe, in the old Sun Trust Bank building a few doors down from our office (706.258.3876).
The owner’s name is Henry Fehrmann, and I’ve been told he is German. Here’s how they describe themselves: “Authentic German delicatessen, pastry shop, and cafe. Gourmet Barnie’s Coffee. Schaller & Weber Award-Winning European-style sausages and deli meats. Karl Ehmer bratwurst, wieners, bacon and ham.”
It looks like a well run place, with prompt, courteous service. They have a few German specialties on the shelf, like spatzel mix and noodles. The pastries looked great, as did all of the things in the deli case. In fact, I splurged on Schaller & Weber Irish bangers.
I’d guess their strongest suit is their sandwiches. Here’s a scan of their menu, front and back.
Looks like they are open 8:00 – 4:00, six days a week.
