4th of July Festivities Begin Today, Schedule of Events

There’s a full menu of options for the 4th, with fireworks on Friday and Saturday.

Friday, June 30

In McCaysville/Copperhill, the fireworks begin on Tater Hill at 9:15 tonight. Anywhere in the downtown area should be good for viewing. The duck race on the Toccoa is during the day today, weather permitting, I assume.

In Ducktown, music begins at the Hoist House at 4 PM, with gospel at 7 PM.

Saturday, July 1

In Blue Ridge, the Old Timer’s Parade begins at 10:00. The downtown park is the place to be, or anywhere along East Main.

At the Marina, there is BBQ and music starting at noon. Fireworks begin at 9:00. The best viewing area is probably Morganton Point, which is right across the lake from the marina. But go early, and take a lawn chair.

In Ducktown, breakfast from 8:00-10:00 at the Hoist House. At 10:15 is the Patriotic Parade on Main Street. 11:00 is the rubber duck race.  From 12:00-2:00 there is a soup bean dinner at the Masonic Lodge. Fireworks begin around 9:30.

Sunday, July 2

Light Up the Lake Boat Tour on Lake Blue Ridge starts about 8:45 PM. Again, the best view is probably from Morganton Point.

Tuesday, July 4

The traditional 4th of July celebration begins at Epworth with a pancake breakfast from 8:00-10:30 at the Epworth Community Center. (That’s next to the college campus. Turn left at the four way stop.) 10:30-2:00 kids activities, hay ride, ice cream, home made cakes, and classic car show.
